Homage to Corday
1988: based on “La Mort du Marat” by David. The first of the series “Le Belle” (The Beauties) taken for a competition in Bologna for which it won first prize. The model, Soraya, was photographed in the old laundry tub of my next door neighbour, the farmer Alfonso. This image is a homage to Charlotte Corday, a courageous young woman who paid for the assassination of the cruel tyrant Marat with her life. Credit is due also to my friend Adriano Tetti who art directed.
